Method:  
Keep the index finger on the base of the thumb and press with thumb keeping the other three fingers straight.  

Specialty:  
It prevents all the diseases that occur due to the imbalance of the air.  

Time Duration:  
The practice of this mudra for 45 minutes reduces the severity of the disease in 12 to 24 hours. For better results practice it for two months.

o  It cures Rheumatism, Arthritis, Gout, Parkinson's disease and paralysis without any medicine  
o  It is useful for Cervical Spondylitis, paralysis to face and catching of nerve in the neck

Formations of Mudra: -
Keep the tip of the middle finger at the top of Venus and press it with the thumb.

Specialty:-
If there increment in the sky or space element in our body. This Mudra helps us to decrease it maintain balance.

Time limit:-
This Mudra can be practiced until the disease is cured. Deaf or a person weak in hearing or person suffering from pain ears, should do this Mudra daily for 40 to 60 minutes continuously.

Benefits:-

  • This Mudra is especially ideal for any kind of a pain in the ears. On practicing for 5-10 minutes immediate relief can be felt. It is very effective for all types of ear problems like pus in the ears, continuous drumming of ears, hearing problems, deafness, etc.
  • By practicing this Mudra, a clear voice can be obtained if ones do not have it. But it is not possible if one is speechless from birth.
  • Some times when on slapping children or on banging into anybody, a tremor is felt, which can be cured immediately by practicing this Mudra.

Mudras are to be done by using hands and fingers, this can be practiced anytime in anyplace. You can practice the mudras even by sitting, standing, walking, and traveling. For the best results practice it in sitting posture (padmasana, sukhasana and vajrasana).

Procedure:
Bring your thumb, middle finger, and ring finger together. The rest of the fingers are to be stretched out. This is to be practiced every day for 45 minutes, practicing for a longer period gives more benefits.

Apan Vayu Mudra (Heart Mudra)

In Yoga, our sages have developed a number of Mudras to avoid various diseases and to mitigate their effects. These Mudras are made by manipulating the fingers of our hands. They have a wonderful effect on the body and mind. I am describing here “Apan Vayu Mudra”, which mitigates heart disease, and is highly effective even in case of a heart attack. The Mudra has to be made by both the hands. Its effect is magical in case of a heart attack; it works like a Sorbitrate tablet and serves better than even a powerful injection. It will not cause damage to the heart, and one can safely go to a hospital in this Mudra, without any panic.

The Apan Vayu Mudra is also called the Mrita Sanjeevani Mudra. It is a very powerful Mudra and in ancient India, it was considered to be a lifesaver in case of a heart attack.

Steps:

1.    Sit down comfortably in the Padma Asana (Lotus Pose) or any other suitable posture. Breathe gently through your nostrils.
2.   Now touch the tips of the middle and ring fingers to the tip of your thumb. Your little finger should point straight out.
3.   This Mudra should be held for a period of ten to fifteen minutes.

Benefits:
1)       The Apan Vayu Mudra is supposed to be very beneficial for the heart.
2)        People with a history of cardiac ailments should practice this Mudra on a regular basis.
3)        The benefits of the Apan Vayu Mudra also extend to those who suffer from gastric problems such as heartburn and indigestion.

Apan Vayu Mudra is useful in a large number of other cases:
•If done regularly for 45 minutes daily in three stretches of 15 minutes each in the morning, afternoon, and evening, it is helpful for many heart diseases. When air element increases in the body, it causes constriction of heart arteries; they become hard and narrow. Doing this Mudra will relieve arteriosclerosis’ of the heart, and thus strengthens the heart muscles and remove blockages in arteries.
It relieves angina immediately.

It normalizes blood pressure and thus saves us from both high as well as low blood pressure, as it stimulates the circulatory system.

  • In the case of palpitations or weak pulse, this Mudra will normalize the pulse rate immediately.
  • It also reduces nervousness, as it quietens/calms the nervous system.
  • It helps in relieving acidity, gas formation, eructation, belching, and strengthens the digestive system. It solves all diseases of the intestines, colic, colitis, etc;
  • It is highly effective in respiratory diseases like asthma. This Mudra, by cleansing the blood circulatory system, also helps the lungs in their functioning. People who suffer from difficult breathing while climbing stairs or walking fast should do this Mudra for about 10 minutes before climbing stairs; they will feel much better.
  • It is also highly effective in curing migraine. Migraine or headache is primarily due to weak digestion or excited nerves. As already mentioned, this Mudra quietens the nervous system and strengthens the digestive system therefore leaving no cause for migraine.
  • By soothing the nervous system, it induces sleep and cures insomnia.
  • According to Ayurveda, any imbalance in the three “doshas” – Vata, Pitta and Kapha causes diseases. Apan Vayu Mudra restores balance in these three ‘doshas’. Apan Vayu Mudra stimulates and strengthens the blood circulatory system – digestive system, respiratory system, excretory system, and the nervous system.
  • Apan Vayu Mudra is a very helpful mudra in our daily lives and also in emergencies like a heart attack. It should be practiced for 45 minutes a day – in 3 phases of 15 minutes each. If practiced regularly over a long period of time, it is helpful in a number of heart ailments.

Linga Mudra (MUDRA OF HEAT)



Steps:
1) The Linga Mudra can be performed while standing up or seated.
2) Bring both hands in front of your body and clasp them so that the fingers are intertwined.
3) Ensure that the left thumb is pointing vertically upwards and encircle it with the thumb and index finger of the right hand.
4) Hold this posture for 15 minutes while inhaling and exhaling normally.

Benefits:
1) The Linga Mudra generates immense heat within the body and is very useful for combating colds.
2) It also helps to boost the immune system and makes the body more resistant to colds and similar infections.
3) The benefits of the Linga Mudra also extend to the respiratory system and it can help to loosen accumulated phlegm from the throat.
4) This Mudra also helps with weight loss.

Linga Mudra Duration:
This mudrā can be practice only when there is a  necessary. Linga mudrā duration is 30 minutes.

Precautions for Linga Mudra :
If you are suffering from fever or pita Prakriti, then don’t do this.


Gyan Mudra (Mudra of Knowledge)

Method:  
Touch the tip of the thumb to the tip of the index finger, with the other three fingers stretched out.  

Specialty:  
As it is a mudra of knowledge, it enhances knowledge. The tip of thumb has centers of pituitary and endocrine glands. When we press these centers by index finger the two glands work actively.  

Time duration:  
There is no particular time duration for this mudra. You can practice by sitting, standing, or lying on the bed whenever and wherever you have time.  

Benefits:  

  • Increases memory power and sharpens the brain  
  •  Enhances concentration and prevents Insomnia  
  • If we practice it regularly, it will cure all psychological disorders like Mental, Hysteria, Anger, and Depression

Varuna Mudra (Mudra of Water)

Tip of little finger touches the tip of the thumb, with the other three fingers stretched out.  


Specialty:  
It balances the water content and prevents all diseases which come due to lack of water.

It has no specific time duration and one can practice it according to their time.

o  It retains clarity in blood by balancing water content in the body  
o  Prevents the pains of Gastroenteritis and Muscle Shrinkage 

Prithvi Mudra (Mudra of Earth)
